Web design is an art. A lot of people don't see it that way, but I do. It's an art of problem solving. You don't always get to use the flashiest graphics or the latest technology, but at the end of the day you have to deliver a product that meets or exceeds the clients expectations.
Jones & Bartlett Learning
At Jones & Bartlett I was the only web designer on the marketing team, brought on board to work on their new site designed by an external agency. Where the agency left off, I took over, converting templates, designing graphics, and integrating the design into their home-grown content management system. In addition, my responsibilities also included producing HTML email blasts, landing pages, and banner advertisments.
MIT Lincoln Laboratory
http://www.ll.mit.eduI worked at Lincoln Laboratory as part of the Web Team under the Information Services Department. In 2008 we had the opportunity to re-design the external web site. We contracted the initial design to a boston firm called iFactory. While iFactory did most of the visual design, ultimately it was my role to implement the site, which ended up being a combination of design from both iFactory and the Web Team. I defined the technology parameters, created and implemented the templates, and managed the content integration team. Because of our hard work we won a 2008 MIT team award.
Lincoln Laboratory Intranet
Because MIT Lincoln Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development center, most of the work I did for the company I am unable to publish on a public website. I spent most of my years at the company working on the corporate intranet, doing front end design for web applications, reccomending and implementing web technology, and graphic and template design. The following images are but a small sample of the work done on the intranet. Implementations included blogs, wikis, document management systems, course registrations, e-communications and visitor access control.
CollectionDX
CollectionDX has been my personal project for years. It's been my sandbox to try out web technology that I am interested in learning about, as well as a place to share my passion for vintage Japanese Toys. This site is built with the Open-Source content management system Drupal, with an integrated Gallery2 Install. It's fully integrated with Google Adsense, Analytics, Webmaster Tools and Apps, and I've done a lot of work researching best practices to obtain great search results. Through this site I have gained a lot of experience in managing communities, link-building, and integrating with web 2.0 services. Our HD video content is hosted on YouTube through their partner program, and our videos have over 3,000 subscribers with over 8 million views. The site receives over 150k visits a month with over 500k page views monthly.
Natural Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

With a small budget and a tight timeframe, NPI Pharmaceuticals wanted a clean "green" site that represented their sustainable semi-synthetic paclitaxel business. This light weight site gave the company a facelift that has increased business.
Viewpoint Sign and Awning
The visual design for this site was done by their in-house art department and It was my job to translate that idea into a reality. They wanted to be able to frequently update the images on the site themselves, so once again I used the open source Gallery2 application to facilitate self-publishing.
